Tom Arthur, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Renfrewshire South constituency, spent a day working with Linwood Community Development Trust (LCDT) as part of the MSP Connector Programme this summer.

The campaign gives MSPs the opportunity to spend time in their local towns, connecting and sharing with the local community and raising awareness of the opportunities and challenges towns face.

During his time in Linwood, Tom helped deliver leaflets for a local consultation, maintained the flowerboxes for Linwood in Bloom and helped out with the pop-up shop for Roots of Linwood.

Speaking after his time volunteering Tom said,

“I had great fun with the team from Linwood Community Development Trust and am delighted that they asked me to join them.

“This was a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the work that they are doing to help their local community and see the huge range of ways in which they support Linwood.

“From brightening up the town, to improving health and wellbeing the community is at the heart of the work that they do.

“This has been a hugely enlightening experience which I hope to replicate across the constituency, spending time volunteering with local groups to build a deeper understanding of how I can support them both here in the constituency and through my work in the Scottish Parliament.

“I would like to thank everyone at LCDT for making me feel so welcome and I look forward to supporting them with their future ventures.”
