Tom Arthur MSP met with National Farmers Union (Scotland) representatives this week.

Keen to hear views on farming in the local area, the Renfrewshire South MSP visited Gryffe Wraes farm in Renfrewshire for a meeting with NFU (Scotland) Forth and Clyde Regional Board Chairman Willie Harper and Regional Manager Lisa Roberts on Wednesday.

Commenting after the visit, Tom said:

“It was a pleasure to meet with NFU (Scotland) this week and get out and about for a tour of Gryffe Wraes farm.

“My discussion with Willie and Lisa was useful and informative, touching on local farming here in Renfrewshire South, Brexit and Scotland’s wider agricultural sector.

“Agriculture is a hugely important sector for Scotland and one that is particularly vulnerable to the potential consequences of a No Deal Brexit, so I’m looking forward to further engagement with NFU going forward.”

Forth and Clyde Regional Board Manager Lisa Roberts added:

“It was great that Tom took the time to get out on farm and meet with us.

“He took on board how important agriculture is to the Scottish economy and that it is vital that a solution to Brexit is agreed as a matter of urgency.”
