TOM ARTHUR MSP ENCOURAGES APPLICATIONS IN RENFREWSHIRE SOUTH
On 19 June, the Scottish Government launched The Big Climate Conversation (TBCC), a broad programme of engagement on Scotland’s response to the global climate emergency across all sectors of society – individuals, business and the public sector.
Through a series of workshops, conferences, meetings, consultation and digital engagement, all sectors are invited to have their say on how Scotland responds to the Global Climate Emergency and build a collaborative approach to how we can best, as a nation, deliver the transformative changes required.
As part of this strand, it was announced last week that The Big Climate Conversation Community Fund (BCCCF) will support individual communities to hold their own Big Climate Conversations to feed in to the overall picture. To ensure local views are represented, Tom Arthur MSP is now encouraging local third sector organisations and community groups in Renfrewshire South to consider applying to the fund.
Grants of £100-£300 are available to fund workshops held before the 31st October 2019 which support the aims of The Big Climate Conversation to engage all sectors of society on Scotland’s response to the global climate emergency.
Applications will be accepted until 21st October 2019, with grant award decisions being made on a weekly basis.
Commenting on the announcement, Tom Arthur said:
“The views shared during Big Climate Conversation events will help the Scottish Government develop a new public engagement strategy that will help us towards a greener and more sustainable society that we can all be proud of.
“The Big Climate Conversation Community Fund will make a real difference in ensuring local groups and organisations, who otherwise might not be able to cover the expense of hosting a workshop, can have their views heard.
“I have seen first-hand the great work already being done to combat climate change across Renfrewshire South, and would encourage any organisation or group that is keen to host their own conversation to take this opportunity to help shape Scotland’s response to the global climate emergency and consider applying.”
