Tom Arthur, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire South met with Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH)’s Stephen McLellan (CEO) and John Leckie (Chair) at his constituency office recently. Tom was keen to meet with the RAMH representatives again, as part of his efforts to engage regularly with local organisations offering support to the communities of Renfrewshire South. Topics under discussion included the impact of the deepening cost-of-living crisis on RAMH’s service demands and current pressures on the social care sector more generally.

RAMH is a Scottish registered charity, with bases in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. They provide support to around 7,000 people a year in these areas through a range of services including support at the point of crisis, one-to-one counselling, social and physical activity groups and help for individuals to gain or maintain housing and employment. RAMH promotes recovery from mental ill-health and empowers their service users to build independent, fulfilled lives.

Commenting after the meeting, Tom Arthur said:

“RAMH are a vital support to recovery for those experiencing poor mental health. Following the pandemic, many people in our communities will be experiencing social isolation and the impact of the cost-of-living increases is far-reaching.

“Through local projects such as the Community Garden, ‘Recovery Runs’ and Recovery College, RAMH engages with individuals in a variety of settings, to encourage people to connect and improve both mental and physical health.”

“I was delighted to catch up with Stephen and John to discuss ongoing work in the Scottish Parliament and will continue to support RAMH in their invaluable work across Renfrewshire South.”
