Tom Arthur, MSP for Renfrewshire South, has praised the hard work and dedication of police officers following the announcement that all officers below the rank of Assistant Chief Constable will received an immediate 6.5% pay increase, backdated to 1st September.

During First Minister’s Questions in the Scottish Parliament last week, Tom asked First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to join him in welcoming the announcement of the best pay deal for officers in the past 20 years.

Following FMQs, Tom commented,

“Our police officers work hard to keep us safe in Renfrewshire South and across Scotland all year long.

“I’m delighted that they will be receiving a 6.5% pay rise that will be backdated to the beginning of the month.

“We value the work our police officers do, and this is reflected in the pay agreement.”
