Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur is hoping to raise much-needed money for people living with cancer by hosting an event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 18 October at his constituency office in Johnstone.

Mr Arthur is inviting people to come along, share in the fun and raise vital funds to support Macmillan’s life-changing work. He commented:

“Cancer can affect anyone, and it impacts on every part of your life. Macmillan provides financial, physical and emotional support for people living with cancer, and events like this help give something back.

“I’d be delighted to welcome my constituents to join me for a cuppa and some cakes in aid of this great cause on Friday 18 October and am sure it will be a great opportunity to bring people from across the local community together while raising money to ensure that everybody affected by cancer gets the help they need”.

Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and there are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK, set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.

Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and simply cannot support the growing number of people with cancer who need them without the public’s help. From the moment of diagnosis and whenever they’re most needed, Macmillan provide support that is totally focused on each individual person to help them find their best way through.

Mr Arthur’s Macmillan event is being held at 49 High Street, Johnstone, PA5 8AJ on Friday 18 October between 1-3pm, locals are welcome to drop by. For more information, visit his Facebook page or call the office on 01505 331 990.
