Tom Arthur, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire South, visited the Cross Stobs Inn recently to meet with owner Jonathan Wengel. Tom had written to Jonathan to offer his congratulations following Cross Stobs Inn’s success at the Scottish Hospitality & Entertainment Awards and was delighted to be invited for a visit. The long-established Barrhead business picked up the Best Independent Bar award and were runners up for Best Sports Bar in May of this year.

Tom took the time to listen to the concerns of Jonathan, owner of the family-run pub, as he discussed the impact that the Cost of Living crisis has had on his business.

Commenting after the visit, Tom Arthur said:

“I really enjoyed catching up with Jonathan again and being able to congratulate them on their recent successes.

“It was also an opportunity to discuss future plans for the business as they tackle some of the challenges facing Cross Stobs and other hospitality venues in the area as the effects of the Cost of Living crisis continue.

“Pubs like this are at the heart of their communities and play such a strong role in providing safe, welcoming spaces for people outside of their own homes.

“I look forward to visiting again and with them well with their continued success.”
