Tom Arthur, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire South, recently organised a local engagement session at Morrisons supermarket in Johnstone. As part of Tom’s continuing engagement with constituents, the event in Johnstone was the first in a series of planned supermarket surgeries in Johnstone, Barrhead and Linwood.

Tom will also be arranging street surgeries in areas across the constituency, with a focus on those communities affected most by the Westminster-made cost of living crisis. This builds on a very successful programme of events last year which saw Tom joining forces with some of the local councillors and visiting people in various parts of Johnstone and Linwood. As the dates and times are scheduled, those living in the areas will be notified by letter to make an appointment if they wish Tom to take forward an issue on their behalf. Constituents are encouraged to get in touch for assistance with issues such as Social Security Scotland benefits, utility accounts, healthcare and many other devolved matters.

Speaking after the event, Tom said:

“I have always strived to be as accessible an MSP as possible, with a high street constituency office in Johnstone and regular advice surgeries. I am continuously looking at different ways to engage with constituents, to ensure that as many people as possible can access the help and advice that they require from me.

“My most recent local engagement session was at Morrisons supermarket in Johnstone and I have planned a series of subsequent events during the spring months at supermarkets across my constituency.

“Events like these and the upcoming street surgeries I have planned are a great opportunity to speak to constituents when it suits them. Of course, those in need of support can contact my office at any time by telephone on 01505 331 990 or email at tom.arthur.msp@parliament.scot
